Amy is 61 years old. She’s been working with me for 2 1/2 years, and I couldn’t be happier!
Before coming to LyonStrong, she was retired for a year, and during that time, she had some injuries and was very inactive. But once she started feeling better, she thought to herself: “There is no excuse not to try to improve and get stronger”. She had all the time in the world, and there was no reason for her not to get started in a workout program somewhere. She happened to see LyonStrong’s advertisement on Facebook, and she made the phone call 2 1/2 years ago! 😄
Amy had a lot of questions during that phone call because she was not confident and could not remember the last time she was consistently participating in an exercise program, other than walking around the neighborhood. She felt a little apprehensive because she was out of shape and she thought the people in the gym were going to be too much for her to handle. However, she discovered that Lyonel worked with her very well, and she was happy. She regained her confidence after her first 28 days at LyonStrong and that was it for her; she was “on the horse”, and she wanted to stay on as long as possible.
When she goes to LyonStrong, she feels much more relaxed, she feels like she fits right in as soon as she walks through the door. She kind of knows what to expect. She knows the routines a little bit better, even though they do something completely different every time. She’s just a lot less stressed out. She feels stronger and is not afraid to ask for more. She can push herself without thinking she is going to pass out. Going to LyonStrong has proven that she is stronger than she thought she was. The bottom line is: she feels more confident and she’s a lot more positive about physical activity.
In the olden days, when traveling, if somebody told her she was going to have to walk a mile and a half in the sun, she used to think, Oh my god! a mile and a half?!? 😩 Now, she welcomes it and sees it as a challenge. She thinks, C’mon, that’s all you’ve got!?! Now she has a positive outlook on things, she doesn’t go straight to the negative anymore. Instead of saying, “Oh no, that weighs 20-30 lbs.!” She says, “Let me see if I can pick that up!”.
She runs around all day even on days when she’s not at the gym, and now she feels like she has a different perspective and a lot more energy. Even at home, she used to ask her husband to help her lift a lot of stuff, now she always tries to do it herself first. She will only ask for help if she can’t do it, but not before pushing herself to try first.

I used to feel like I declined a little, but now I built myself back up better and stronger and right now it feels really good! Every time I leave the gym after a workout, I feel accomplished. Amy has also learned to eat clean with the meal plans that Lyonel provided once she started the program. She still makes the smoothies and uses some of his recipes regularly. She has learned to enjoy clean food, not only the desserts and fatty stuff like she used to. Now she eats cauliflower rice and loves it. She makes it with all kinds of stuff. It tastes great and her family loves it too.
As a matter of fact, she just went to her cardiologist back in November. She normally has high cholesterol, but this time it went down 40 points which is a lot for her, and she thinks it has to do with starting this program because it changed her way of thinking and being all around. It’s helped her physically, mentally, and it’s helped her with her abilities to do different things. Plus, she’s learned to eat better and she really enjoys it. The food that she makes is delicious. She now feels like she can splurge a little bit here and there. She knows she has a cheat day during the week if she feels she needs it and always remembers when Lyonel told her that if she has to eat something that’s not so good for her, she can take three slow bites, that way her brain will realize that she ate it and she doesn’t need to stuff herself with it. Now she doesn’t deprive herself of anything she enjoys. She remembers everything Lyonel tells her.
AMY’S FUN FACTS:
Favorite book: She feels like she needs to start reading more for pleasure since most of her reading is done for research. She’s either searching up a recipe, or how to fix something that broke, she researches different travel sites, because she loves to travel. Or, if her audio equipment is not working properly, she will troubleshoot. She troubleshoots all of the time.
Favorite Music: 70’s & 80’s, since she grew up during that time. But she does have 2 daughters, and through them she has learned to love Rihanna, and Coldplay. She also enjoys Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, and Genesis. There’s a variety of music she likes. Through her research, she has learned that if your stereo system isn’t working right, you should try listening to a different genre of music and it will sound better all of a sudden. They recommend to diversify your taste in music, and that should help.
